What's your idea of a "long-haul" flight? For some it might be the nonstop transcontinental flights between the east and west coasts that can sometimes take six and a half hours. Or the polar flights between London and Los Angeles, or New York and Tokyo — which can take between 11 and 13 hours.

Then there are the very long-haul flights between Shenzhen and Mexico City that take over 16 hours, or between Houston and Sydney, which runs over 17 hours.

Want super long-haul? Try Doha to Auckland, at around 18 hours, or the current record holder, the Singapore Airlines nonstop flight to New York, which clocks in at around 19 hours and 30 minutes.

But non stop flights are about to get even longer. We're talking nonstop flights of more than 10,000 miles.
