You've all seen the cases of unruly, disruptive or downright violent airline passengers, played out in full drama on viral cell phone videos. These passengers punch, kick, sometimes bite other passengers or flight attendants. The wrestle other passengers and flight crew. Ultimately — and often assisted by other passengers — the flight attendants restrain these people. And in more violent cases, the offending passengers are zip-tied to their seats, and then duct-taped.

Are these incidents happening more or are they just being reported more?

A simple answer to both questions: Yes.

More often than not, the bad, unruly and violent behavior is triggered by excessive alcohol.

So, where is the accountability here? Is it with the passenger who drank the alcohol, or with the airline, the airport restaurant or lounge that served it? And then, there's the bigger question: what can we do about it?
